Who is the “Build Buddha”?
Although this is my site, I am not the Build Buddha. I’m not even a Buddhist, although I have found value in some of the teachings of Buddhism.
The Build Buddha originated as the attributed source of certain sayings I would place on my office whiteboard containing devops or release engineering wisdom. The sayings often had a koan-like quality (“If a thing is worth doing three times, it is worth not doing.”). Over time, the Build Buddha came to be the mythical embodiment of the state of equanimity which I myself sought.
The Build Buddha, through wisdom and discipline, creates the release path that maximizes peace and minimizes pain. When the vagaries of software development reality intrude, the Build Buddha remains undaunted and resilient.
I am not the Build Buddha. But I seek to walk the path.
